International Residency Prize

Regrettably, The Dobie Paisano International Residency Prize has been discontinued. We are not sure when or if the Prize will be resurrected. We will post any updates here.

The Dobie Paisano International Residency Prize honors a national or international writer who has demonstrated an abiding connection to the natural world. Along with a generous stipend, the prize includes a four-week residency at the 254-acre Paisano Ranch outside Austin, Texas. The British writer Jim Crace was the first recipient European recipient in 2017. Barry Lopez, the first American recipient, will assume the residency in 2018, followed by Joy Williams in 2019. The prize is funded by The Ralph A. Johnston Memorial Foundation. Residents are chosen by an internal committee. There is no application process.
